2016 Olga Kern International Piano Competition Participants Announced

The Olga Kern International Competition Selection Jury finalized their work on July 31, 2016. Twenty-four competitors, representing fifteen countries, have been selected to perform in Albuquerque, New Mexico for a panel of eight international jury members.  Olga Kern is the Artistic Director and President of the Jury.

Setting the Stage for the 2016 Competition

The mission of the Olga Kern International Piano Competition is to provide Is to provide a venue for pianists to develop international careers through a competition that is recognized globally for its value and excellence.

The 2016 Piano Competition awards include a total of $30,000 in cash prizes. The first-prize winner will be awarded international concert engagements throughout the US and Europe and a professional recording on the Steinway & Sons Label. Every competitor will receive a stipend towards their travel costs and will be hosted by families in Albuquerque who will provide housing, food, and local ground transportation. Steinway & Sons, will provide all pianos for the duration of the competition, including in the host families’ homes. The City of Albuquerque is also major sponsor for this historic New Mexico event. Scalo Northern Italian Grill is the food sponsor for the jury members.
