Anthony Ratinov began playing piano at the age of 4 under the teaching of his grandmother, Edit Ratinova, who taught at the renowned Gnessin Music School in Moscow, Russia, for 45 years.

Anthony was recently a medalist at the 2022 Hilton Head Piano Competition, where he was also awarded the Sascha Gorodnitzki Memorial Prize (the Jury Special Prize). He received First Prize at the 2021 Canada International Artists Piano Competition and the Pianists’ Award (First Prize), sponsored by Bösendorfer, at the International Summer Academy in Austria in 2021 and 2019. He was a semifinalist at the 2021 Concert Artists Guild Competition and a recipient of the Charles S. Miller Prize, awarded to a gifted pianist at the Yale School of Music who has done outstanding work during the first year of study. He also received the Silver Medal (Second Prize) at the 2022 Fischoff Chamber Music Competition with his piano trio, Trio Ondata.

Anthony has performed extensively both in the United States and in Europe, including a recent solo concert tour across the Netherlands, and has given recitals and performances at such notable venues as the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the ORF RadioKulturhaus performance hall in Vienna, and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. He has given live performances and interviews on the national radios both in Amsterdam and in Vienna, and has actively performed at and participated in summer festivals, including the Taos School of Music Chamber Music Festival, the Fellowship program at the Bowdoin International Music Festival, the Virtuoso & Belcanto Festival in Italy, the International Holland Music Sessions, and the International Summer Academy in Vienna, where he was featured on the highlight performances CD from the festival’s recent years.  

Anthony is currently a Master’s student at the Yale School of Music, studying with Professor Boris Berman, where he performs regularly in both solo and chamber settings. Anthony previously studied at Yale University, where he majored in chemical engineering and graduated with honors, in addition to studying piano with Professor Wei-Yi Yang. Anthony is an avid chamber musician, collaborating with vocalists and instrumentalists and performing regularly as part of a piano trio and several violin-piano duos. He enjoys exploring new music and working with composers, having commissioned piano solo and piano-violin works, and has performed as part of new-music programs such as the Gamper Contemporary Music Festival at the Bowdoin International Music Festival, the New Music New Haven series at the Yale School of Music, and the “Just Composed” program at the International Summer Academy in Vienna.
