Xu Rui

Xu Rui was born in May 1996 in Beijing, China.

She showed her talent when she was four years old and then began the study of piano under the guidance of the most distinguished piano professor in China, M ̊ Zhao Pingguo.

She has been the top-prize winner of many national and international piano competitions since a very young age: At the age of seven, she won First Prize at the Xiwang Piano Competition in China; at the age of 10, she won First Prize at the 14th Hongkong-Asia Piano Competition; and at the age of 11, she won First Prize at the World Prize for Peace US International Piano Competition. Other prizes include Third Prize at the 56th International Clara Schumann Piano Competition in 2010; First Prize at the 2nd Macau-Asia Piano Competition in 2011; Third Prize at the 4th International Rosario Marciano Piano Competition in 2012; Third Prize at the Primo Concorso Internazinale Luigi Valperga di Masino in Torino in 2013; and Third Prize at the 24th Concorso Internazionale per Pianoforte e Orchestra “Città di Cantù” in 2014.

She studied at the Central Conservatory of China in Beijing and in Europe at the Hochschule für Musik “Franz Liszt” in Weimar with Prof. Peter Waas. She continues her studies in Lugano at Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana with Prof. Nora Doallo.

She has been invited to play concerts in China, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland. Her last recital was at Lac in Lugano and was reported by RSI TV News. She performed as a soloist with the Bacau Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orchestra of Conservatorio Svizzera Italiana.

She attended master classes with Bernd Götzke, Jacob Leuschner, Anna Malikova, Ida Gamulin, Darryl Rosenberg, Enrica Ciccarelli, Vladimir Valjarevic, Pavlina Dokovska, and Izolda V.Zemskova.
