Art Gardenswartz is a respected Albuquerque entrepreneur, community leader, and philanthropist whose work has spanned multiple industries. He is best known for founding and operating the successful Gardenswartz Sportz stores in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, later transitioning into e-commerce with the launch of Golfbargains.com—an innovative venture that became a multimillion-dollar online retail business.
In the real estate sector, Art works closely with his wife and business partner, Sonya Priestly, on major commercial development projects throughout Albuquerque. Together, they own and manage significant properties, including the Alameda West Shopping Center, playing a vital role in shaping the region’s economic landscape.
Sonya is a community leader in her own right, serving as past President of the United Way of Central New Mexico, a board member of the San Francisco Opera, and a member of the UNM Anderson School of Management Advisory Board. She is also the incoming Chair of the Jewish Community Center of Greater Albuquerque. Their shared commitment to philanthropy led to the creation of the Priestly Gardenswartz United Way Impact Fund, which supports strong, resilient communities across New Mexico.
Art has been widely recognized for his leadership and community service, including his induction into the Senior Hall of Fame by Silver Horizons New Mexico. He also served as President of the Jewish Community Center of Greater Albuquerque, helping to revitalize the organization and strengthen its role in the community.
