Marie Šumníková

Born in 1998, young Czech pianist Marie Šumníková started playing the piano at the age of four.

She continued studying piano with her mother, Jana Šumníková, until reaching the age of 15.

Currently, she is a student at the Prague Conservatory studying with Professor Martin Kasik.

She has participated in various international competitions and has been awarded many prizes, including Amadeus Brno, Prague Junior Note, Virtuosi per musica di Pianoforte, Chopin for the Youngest, Broumov Key, Chopin Piano Competition in Budapest, and others.

Her various successes include third prize in the International Competition in Cologne, Germany (2016); second prize in the International Fryderyk Chopin Competition in Mariánské Lázně (2015); and finalist in the International Competition of Fryderyk Chopin Budapest (2016). She performed several concerts with the Moravian Symphony Orchestra Olomouc (Shostakovich, Haydn, and Chopin), Janáček Symphony Orchestra Ostrava (Mozart, Shostakovich) and the Philharmonic of Bohuslav Martinů in Zlín (Shostakovich).

She has participated in piano courses and master classes of such world-renowned artists as Eugen Indjic, Ivo Kahánek, Ivan Klánský, Lars Bokt, Behzod Abduraimov, and many more.
