Akemi Alink
Akemi Alink was born in Japan. She has won prizes in national and international piano competitions and has performed in many esteemed halls.
She is a sought-after soloist and is also active in chamber music and lieder accompaniment. In 2012, she formed a duo with German mezzo-soprano Stephanie Gericke. They perform lieder recitals in Europe and Japan.
In addition to her performing career, Akemi also teaches and gives master classes in Europe, Japan, and the U.S. As a writer, she contributes articles for books and magazines in Japan and Europe. Since 2013, she has been writing a series of articles titled “Competition Reports From Across the World” for the monthly piano magazine Chopin in Japan. Akemi has also written large reports and conducted interviews about the major international piano competitions around the world such as the Hamamatsu International Piano Competition in Japan, the Sydney Competition in Australia, the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition in Israel, and the Fryderyk Chopin International Piano Competition in Poland.
She has been invited as a jury member at international piano and chamber music competitions in Europe and North and South America. Akemi Alink is a board member of the Alink-Argerich Foundation. She has attended more than 100 competitions over the past 20 years, and she frequently gives advice to young pianists and competition organizers.
