Virtual First Round

June 30–July 3, 2022

For the Virtual First Round, 20–24 contestants selected to perform a 45-minute prerecorded recital that will be streamed June 30 to July 3, 2022, as part of the Virtual First Round. The submission deadline for the prerecorded recital is June 28, 2022. Recitals are recorded on video and livestreamed on the Competition website. Music in the Virtual First Round may be repeated from the screening round, however, it must be included as a new recording as part of the new recorded performance for the Virtual First Round.

The performance must be recorded in one take from the beginning to the end without any edits. The performance can be with or without an audience and has to be recorded and submitted during the May 1–June 28, 2022, period. The camera must be placed in such a way that it is close enough to the contestant to see their hands and face in profile. Do not include titles, fade-outs, or video transitions. The recording must be clearly and visibly labeled showing the applicant’s full name and the details of where and when it was made.

At the end of the Virtual First Round on Sunday, July 3, 2022, the Jury will deliberate and choose 8–10 contestants who will advance to the In-Person Second Round. The names of the contestants advanced to the In-Person Second Round will be announced the same evening via FacebookTwitter, and email.
