A native of South Korea, pianist Seolyeong Jeong made her solo recital debut at the Kumho Art Hall in Seoul, Korea, when she was 13.

As an active performer, Seolyeong was featured in various prestigious venues and concerts, including the New York Piano Festival and Competition Gala Concert at Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall and the Vista Chamber Music Concert at Morse Memorial Hall at the Yale School of Music. She appeared as a soloist in Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3 with the Beth El Temple Orchestra as part of its Asian Influence concert. In March 2023, she will perform Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major, Op. 58, with the Shepherd School Symphonic Orchestra, as the winner of Shepherd School Concerto Competition.

Seolyeong has won several prizes at international and national competitions, including First Prize in the Piano Division and the Audience Choice Prize at the 2022 Young Texas Artists Music Competition, First Prize at the 2016 Connecticut Young Artist Competition, and Third Prize and the Award for the Best Performance of a 20th-Century Composition at the 2016 New York Piano Festival and Competition.

Seolyeong graduated from Seoul National University, summa cum laude, in 2015 with the class of Professors Hie-Yon Choi and Hyoung Joon Chang. She holds a Master of Music degree and a Master of Musical Arts degree from the Yale School of Music, where she studied with Professors Peter Frankl, Hung-Kuan Chen, and Christopher Elton, as a full scholarship and fellowship recipient. In 2016, Seolyeong was the only recipient of the Charles S. Miller Prize, which is given to a gifted pianist who has done outstanding work during their first year of study at the Yale School of Music. She also performed as a soloist in the 2017 Yale School of Music Commencement Concert, as one of the representatives of the graduating students.

Seolyeong is currently a full scholarship, fellowship, and teaching assistant in the Doctor of Musical Arts program at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University under the mentorship of Dr. Jon Kimura Parker.
